The Drummer Boy quarter is a slang term for the Bicentennial Washington Quarter based on the Revolutionary War-era drummer on the reverse, designed by commercial artist Jack L. Ahr as part of a nationwide contest. Contests were also held for the 1976 Kennedy Half Dollar and Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollar coins.
